Travel to Spain - A Journey in Pain

Roshan Jamal Khan
Olive is associated with peace and milk with compassion. But, for Roshan Jamal Khan, an olive trader and a son of a milkman, there’s been no peace since he went to Spain in 2007 for importing olive oil and compassion has proved elusive.

The dreams of importing olive oil from Spain spilled over and human rights got imprisoned in solitary confinement when Roshan Jamal Khan was detained by the Spanish Police on January 19, 2008 during a raid on a mosque - New York Times.

A year in detention without trial has proved to be a journey in pain not only for Roshan but also for his family – his wife and six young children – far away in India. Impassioned pleas to the concerned authorities have been ineffective in getting the milk of human kindness to flow. Compassion was conspicuous by its absence throughout the year.

As the New Year is ushered in, let’s hope that compassion dawns and Roshan sees the light of freedom soon.

Farewell, My Dear Bro!

انا لله وانا اليه راجعون

My elder brother, Roshan Jamal Khan, returned from Spanish prison in 2014 maintaining his innocence. He led a quiet & peaceful life with his family after returning from Spain. The marriage of a daughter and a son brought more happiness into his life along with a grandson.

On 23-2-2024, Roshan Jamal Khan embarked on his final journey and left for his heavenly abode. Though, the judges of Spanish courts, along with unscrupulous Spanish authorities, deprived Roshan Jamal Khan of justice in this world, he has now left the realm of kangaroo court magistrates to present his case to the Lord of Judgement Day. Wish him all success. May his soul live peacefully forever...

Marhaba ! - مرحبا - Welcome

It nice to know that my friend who created and maintained this blog, Nadir Kamal, is going for Hajj on 14th September, 2014 along with his mother – whom I call Aapa (elder sister). We wish them a happy journey and Hajj-e-Mabroor.

You must have read that in our last post we had made a commitment for raising issue of those Indians who are imprisoned abroad especially in Pakistan. But, I have been very busy since the past few months fighting against the unscrupulous elements of Islam Gymkhana and Jamal Khan is busy pursuing his case in the ECHR, therefore, we couldn't devote time to pursue our commitment. Now that a good government has come to power in our country, we expect to get help in obtaining all the necessary details about Indian prisoners in foreign countries. But, regret to say that we won't be able to deliver the goods until November end. Till then, Eid Mubarak and Happy Diwali to all our readers.

Shukriya Aur Shikwa - Thanks & Regrets

Alhamdulillah! At last it's freedom for my elder brother, Roshan Jamal Khan!  He has been released after 6 years of illegal imprisonment in Spain conspired by the Spanish Government. Although, Jamal Khan is a free man back in his homeland, there's another fight that is still to be fought. The fight against countries that imprison innocent Indians especially those languishing in Pakistani jails.

We wish to thank the media, especially the print media like Indian Express, The Times Of India, Hindustan Times, Mumbai Mirror, The Hindu, Midday, Outlook magazine, Open magazine, Gujarat Samachar, Navbharat Times, Loksatta, Inquilab, Urdu Times etc besides the news agency, PTI.  We also thank the electronic media, CNN-IBN, TimesNow, NDTV & eTV (Urdu) besides web news portals, Rediffmail.com & IANS including all the media's management, editors and all those journalists who continously kept track of the case for 6 years and provided consistent support by highlighting our struggle against the blatant injustice by Spainish Government. This support will ever be remembered by us.

We also like to thank all those political leaders, especially hon'ble Mr. L. K. Advani, hon'ble Mr. A. R. Antulay, hon'ble Mr. R. R. Patil, respected Mr. Ram Naik, Mr. Prakash Jawdekar, Mr. Raj K. Purohit and Mr. Mushtaq Antulay.

We also thank respected Shiv Shankar Menon, Foreign Secretary, respected P. Harish, OSD to the Indian Vice-President, respected Oham Prakash, Private Secretary to Minister of Overseas Indian affairs, respected Udyan Mukherjee, Jt. Secretary of Indian Prisoners Overseas and respected S. D. Mane, Home Ministry, Govt. of Maharashtra.

We would also like to thank CBI (Mumbai & New Delhi units) and ATS (Maharashtra) for their clean chit to Roshan Jamal Khan.

Thanks to all our friends and well wishers for their moral support. Thanks to all the readers and followers of our blog and also those who gave encouraging and supportive comments. Hoping to receive the same kind of support for my other battle against white collar crime being committed by the managing committee of Islam Gymkhana located at Marine Drive, Mumbai. ( https://igmgf.blogspot.com & https://facebook.com/igmgf )

It was really encouraging to receive all the help and support from so many quarters. But, we regret to say that despite seeking help from the representatives of the Muslim community, no Muslim leader, both political and religious leaders, helped or supported us. This callous attitude of the so-called Muslim representatives has caused so much pain & anguish that we feel like revealing their identities so that people can see through their hypocrisy.

The most regretful memory of this struggle is of the absolute apathy of the Indian embassy in Spain. Besides not providing any help, it didn't even care to attend the hearings during the trial of the case in the court. This apathetic attitude of our own country's diplomats can never be forgiven.

Lastly, special thanks to my friend, Nadir Kamal, who created and maintained this blog besides translating my chaste Urdu blog post materials into exemplary English.

Insha Allah, when Roshan Jamal Khan is acquited by the European Court of Human Rights, we will get together to celebrate this victory of truth over falsehood.

Indo-European Farce

Leave alone releasing Roshan Jamal Khan on parole to celebrate Eid, the Spanish government didn’t even bother to reply to the pleas made by Roshan's family to release him on parole to visit his seriously ill father.

Roshan Jamal Khan had completed more than 3 years in a Spanish prison in a case where no crime was committed nor was the intention to commit any crime (conspiracy) charge upheld by the Spanish Supreme Court.

A few weeks later, after the death of Roshan's father, his family again pleaded with the Spanish government to release him on parole so that he could complete his father’s death rituals. They didn’t receive any reply again.

Contrast this against the release of Italian sailors – who had killed two fishermen – to celebrate Christmas. Can this be said to be the magnanimity of the Indian government or plain foolishness? Or, is it because the Indian government is controlled by an Italian remote control? Or, may be the Italians made an offer that the Italian remote control in India couldn’t refuse. Did anyone whisper Agusta?

Whatever it was – an offer or plain foolishness – all the three governments should know that “there is a Higher Authority who rules the destiny of men” and as such all are subjected to the divine laws above which is no man or woman.

Conspiracy Vs Conspiracy – Spanish Turmoil

“Thousands protest in Spain's capital over government austerity measures”

“Spain is falling apart like house of cards”

These are just a couple of headlines from a couple of newspapers. Google “protests in Spain” and you will find numerous others expressing the sorry state of affairs of Spain. Protests and rallies against austerity measures, unemployment and recession have become a regular feature of Spain. All the world over these tragic events are being highlighted. Tragic for the people of Spain. But, not for the shameful, Spanish government.

Spain is going through a very rough period. Arrogance, deception, ineptitude and recession has brought this arrogant, tourist country down on its knees. It is roaming, or rather, crawling around with a begging bowl to survive. If it had not been for the crutch of a few generous alms, Spain would have already fallen apart like a pack of cards.

The wrath of God seems to have befallen Spain. In 2008, it conspired against a few religious men and put them in jail. The Spanish conspiracy was to arrest a few religious men and label them as terrorist so that it could get some money from the US for its false fight against terrorism. Though, Spain succeeded in arresting and imprisoning the men, it seems that it did not get the prize for its false fight against terror.

The arrested men were helpless against the conspiracy of the arrogant Spanish government. Now, Almighty Allah seems to have conspired against Spain by hatching a plot with its own people to teach a lesson to the sly and scheming Spanish government. It seems to be a conspiracy of Allah versus the conspiracy of Spain. Not only is Spain broke but, Allah may break its back soon by seceding Catalonia from it. That will truly make it fall apart like a house of cards. Amen to that.

The Last Lap

In the first week of August and the second one of the holy month of Ramadan, we received the glad tidings of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) admitting Roshan Jamal Khan’s case. The ECHR sought all the details relating to the case including decisions of the Spanish courts. It also sought details of all the violations of the European Convention Human Rights committed by Spain.

It has to be mentioned here that the rules of ECHR are very strict for admitting any case so as to prevent frivolous cases from being filed by unscrupulous elements so that genuine cases don’t suffer due to the backlog thus created. But, it is these very rules that raise our hopes of getting justice as they convey that Roshan Jamal Khan’s case has been considered as a genuine one justifying a hearing by the ECHR.

The rights and freedoms granted by the articles of the European Convention of Human Rights have also increased our hopes of getting justice. Roshan Jamal Khan’s victory in ECHR will not only prove his innocence, but will also bare the truth making it clear as crystal.

Now that ECHR has admitted our case, we fear that Spain may try to circumvent the laws of European Convention of Human Rights to get away from being penalised for violating so many articles of human rights granted by it. But try as much as it can, Spain can never get away for such outrageous violations of human rights and freedoms.

Despite Spain being a tourist country, its financial position is in doldrums. Its banks are getting bankrupt. Without the help of a financial package, it would have sunk in the Mediterranean by now. There is unemployment all around – the whole of Spain is in chaos. Even the weather has turned hostile this summer. The curse of Almighty Allah has fallen upon it.

Although, we have already acknowledged our gratitude to the world-wide media, we once again thank them, especially Indian print & electronic media, for their continued support that provided us the strength to continue our fight against injustice.
